Different scans take different amounts of time. While some studies, like x-rays, are very quick but our other scans do take more time. Please check with our friendly team when you make your appointment.
We are known for timely turn around for your results. We do our very best to ensure you spend the least amount of time ‘waiting’ as possible!
Under current Medicare arrangements we bulk bill CT and X-ray. All other studies will incur a fee. The billing is complex, so it is important that you take the time to talk to one of our friendly team, who will ensure you can make an informed decision.
All reports, except MRI, are finalised by close of business on the day of your scan. MRIs are the only scans that are available the next business day, unless indicated as urgent.
Most referrers will get an encrypted email of your report and a hyperlink to your images. In instances where your referrer does not receive reports via this method you will need to wait or return to collect your images and report.
It is good medicine to have both a report and images because you may be required to go to different doctors or allied health professionals. It is important to ensure they are fully informed for further diagnosis and treatment.
Absolutely! You have been scanned for a reason. Even if nothing suspicious has been spotted, your films are always best to keep for future reference as a baseline should comparison is required at any stage in the future.
Broadly speaking, no, an x-ray is a type of “scan”. In general people can, and do, refer to all radiology studies as “scans”. Please refer to the section on “STUDIES AND TREATMENTS” to confirm the difference between various modalities offered within the practice.
RADIOLOGIST – A specialist doctor responsible for your diagnosis and provides this in a report addressed to your referrer. There are times the radiologist will also liaise personally with your doctor or allied health professional to offer recommendation in progressing your management plan. Our radiologists also perform specialist procedures.
SONOGRAPHER – A specialist technician who utilises the ultrasound machine which is particularly focused on dynamic assessment. These images are provided to the Radiologist (the doctor).
RADIOGRAPHER – A specialist technician who utilises the X-ray, CT and MRI to provide images to the Radiologist (the doctor).
